Painted from memories of Alaska, this grizzly pauses along the shoreline with a freshly caught salmon—a quiet, powerful moment that captures the raw rhythm of life in the wild.
Originally inspired by a bear encounter during my time in Alaska, I recently returned to the painting to bring it closer to the way I see and paint today. Rather than changing the composition, I refreshed the surface with looser brushwork and a more expressive approach, allowing the bear's presence and the energy of the scene to emerge more naturally.
For me, the painting is less about the hunt itself and more about witnessing a fleeting moment of wildness—one that reminds us that nature is both beautiful and uncompromising.
